Design challange

Okay so we decided that as long as we are spending lots of money on carpet that we may as well spend a little more on paint and make things really nice. So here is my design dilemma. I live in a basement so I am a little bit afraid of dark colors because my house is already dark and had awful lighting. In my room I am doing a very light peachy color and then a olive color on one wall, sort of as a headboard since we don't have one. The kids room is going to be split...so one side will be grey with batman symbols on it for Max's "batman room" and the other side of the room with be purple with different colored flowers on it for Elese. So I can't decide what to do in the kitchen or the front room. I saw a color on The New Adventures of the old Christine that I really liked but I don't dare do the entire room this color. So here are my thoughts. Here are some pictures of what I have to work with. Pardon the mess, my bedroom is currently in the front room because of the stinky carpet.

I'm thinking that the "office" area could be this color. I would paint from our door up to the closet wall on color and then the rest of the room another. Or I could paint fro the door up to the kitchen (just past the picture of Christ on the wall) one color. I'm just not sure if it would look cute. Keep in mind we will have new brown carpet. Anyway I'm kind of playing online with the color but can't find one that looks the same or that I love for a big space. So my question is would it look okay to have that area a different color than the rest or should I just do it all the same? Here is a picture of the door. Should I just do my door? It's a metal door though would that work? I'll go shopping for paint tomorrow so let me know.

New Carpet

Max and his cousin Logan thought it would be fun to put the hose in our furnace vent yesterday. I'm sure it was very fun but even so it was not a good idea. Max came inside to tell me how much fun he was having sticking the hose in a a pipe. I then came downstairs to find a little bit of water on the kitchen floor. Once we discovered where the pipes lead we walked onto our bedroom floor and with each step water seeped through. We opened up the closet where the furnace is and found it covered in water! A heating and air conditioning guy came and said that the furnace was okay! HOORAY!!!! Before that we were planning on having Max pay my moms home owners insurance deductible with toys and chores. So to avoid having our house filled with mold spores and also helping Max learn a valuable lesson about not destroying things we are going to get new carpet. We will re carpet everything since the couple that lived here before us had a dog that peed all over the carpet and also two of our carpets were flooded several years ago and never replaced. I'm just hoping that I can find one of those places that will carpet three rooms for $600.

Singing Time Cranium

Anyone ever played the game Cranium? Well I've decided to create a singing time cranium. I've been trying to think of a way to review this years Primary Program songs and I came up with quite a few and then realized that they were all part of the game Cranium. It's kind of a pain to figure out but I'm getting there and I'm very excited! If it works out this year then I will also create one for next years songs so I can use it all year long. Anyway, I'm excited and having fun coming up with multiple choice questions. Here is one of my favorite...

Song: Tell me the Stories of Jesus pg. 57 vs. 1 (we will sing the song before they ask the question)

What do I want you to tell me?

a. the stories of Jesus

b. that I’m awesome

c. that you like my hair cut

d. that I can do whatever I want

All of the questions are not silly but this one was fun. Anyway I hope I can get it all put together for next week because that is when I plan on playing it. If anyone is interested in me sending them copies let me know. Once I have it done I'm going to email everything to Kinko's and have them print it all out for me and cut out the cards. Also if anyone is really familiar with the game and knows what things are called (i.e. humdinger) that would be helpful.

Hubby Tag!

What is his name? Steven Michael Heumann

How long have you been married? 8 years

How long did you date? 9 months

How old is he? 30

Who eats more sweets? I could out eat him in all sweets except Ice Cream.

Who said I love you first? He did. He had told me that he had a goal to only tell the woman he was going to marry that he loved her. Once I was ready to say it I would just say, "I like you so so so so so much!" because I didn't want to make him uncomfortable by saying it first. Once he said it I know it was as good as a proposal. :)

Who is taller? Steven

Who can sing better? Me but he has very good potential if he would just sing more.

Who is smarter? He always wins in Trivial Pursuit, I hate Trivial Pursuit, we don't play it very often. (I couldn't even spell Trivial Pursuit without help.) I'm better at problem solving though.

Who does the laundry? Me, everyday. I recommend it! www.flylady.net It's so much less of a chore if you do it everyday instead of ALL in one day.

Who pays the bills? Me. I'm a little obsesive about it. In fact earlier today, just for fun I figured out how long it should take us to have our 1 credit card and my car paid off. March 2010 here we come!!!

Who mows the lawn? We don't have our own lawn. My mom has been paying a neighbor for years...when we moved in we offered but didn't put up much of a fight.

Who cooks dinner? Me. I have to plan all my meals though...If I don't know what to cook then I don't cook.

Who drives? Him...when we first got MY (:)) car we would fight over who could drive it, now I just let him.

Who is more stubborn? not sure...we are both pretty flexible

Who kissed who first? He did. His friends kept asking if we were going to kiss and just before I was going to go home his friend asked again and Steven said, "If you leave the room I'll kiss her." and he did.

Who asked who out first? He did. We went to Desert Star Playhouse...he had told me that he had already asked another girl out so he was going to take her but then he "lost" her phone number.

Who proposed? He did.

Who has more siblings? He does - 5 siblings, I have 4

Who wears the pants? He does most the time but I do have a picture of him in a dress...too bad I'm not sure how to use the scanner and I really don't want to look through a box of pictures to find it.

I tag everyone who has a hubby and reads my blog.

Max's half birthday

So today is Max's half birthday and he is making sure everyone knows it. He told me that he was having a super hero party and that he had already invited Reed and Hailey. I asked him what they were going to do and he said "wear costumes and play in the dirt". Since this is basically what he does everyday I gave him my permission to continue with the party and asked who was in charge of the games, he paused for a moment and said, "I am." He and Reed ran out back full of excitement. A short time later I wondered outside to get the mail and found Max flying like Superman on the swings and saying, "one more time, then it's your turn." I was very proud that he indeed had a game planned. When he noticed me coming he said, "Mommy, we need ice cream for the party!" first I reminded him how to ask and then I told him we only had popsicles and that that would have to do.

I'm sold!

My friend referred me to this website, www.myfoodstoragedeals.com and it's great! You pay a small fee and she figures out the best deals on grocery's. She also has a weekly meal plan that you can follow! You do need to shop at several stores to follow the meal plan so I haven't tried that yet since going to one store with the kids is challenging enough.

My grocery budget is $150 for every 2 weeks and I almost always go over by $10 or $20. Yesterday I went shopping and had a great time (who knew it could be fun)! As my cart started over flowing I just kept thinking, "I really hope this is within my budget because I only brought $150 cash." and to my surprise it WAS within my budget! I got about $190.00 worth of groceries for $127.11. So, not only did I get all the food I need for the next two weeks I also got a good start on my food storage with a 6 month supply of spaghetti sauce and a 2-3 month supply of cereal! I was a little weary of paying a fee for her services but in my first shopping trip I saved $53.70 that is the cost of 6 months of her service and I saved all that in one trip! So if anyone is interested check it out! You can also visit her blog at www.myfoodstoragedeals.blogspot.com for food storage tips and ideas! I've always thought sales are the way to go but I just never had the patience to figure out what the best deals were, it's worth it to may to pay someone else to do all the leg work.

Food storage is so important and one of those things that I always thought I could never do because I didn't have the money, who knew that starting a food storage would actually save me money!
