Fun with the Kids *August 2011*

My Mediocre Mom website went down a while back and I've lost just about everything. So here are just a few random things about the kids and some of our MM activities.

Max
Max went to play laser tag at Keaton's birthday party. He and another boy bonked heads and Max came home with a black eye. Max was so excited to start second grade. I can't believe how old he looks!Elese
Elese was really wanting to take ballet but it just wasn't in the cards so she practiced on her own at home. After watching the movie Angelina Ballerina she would get on her tip toes and say, "Look, I'm on points!" Helping take care of Sam was another one of her favorite things to do along with doing my hair, and having me paint her nails. Elese got accepted into the free preschool at Sandy Elementary and August 29th was her first day. She was SO excited. After she came home she said, "So, I start Kindergarten tomorrow, right?" She wants to grow up way too fast! Around this time she would also say, "Please bless that I can get married really soon." in her night time prayers. I'm not looking forward to her teenage years.
Elese likes to be the center of attention. She told me on the 20th (Saturday) that daddy said her voice was SO beautiful that she should sing in sacrament meeting. When I woke up Sunday morning she informed me that she would be singing in sacrament meeting. Being that I’m the music coordinator I was sure this was not correct and had to break the news to her. She simply said, “That’s Ok, I’ll just sing in Primary.” Max had to do the scripture moment in Primary so I was in Primary to help him and watch him. Immediately after he finished Elese ran up to the front of the room and said, “It’s time for me to sing my song.” Sister Back asked what song she was supposed to sing and she said, “I love to see the temple” once sister Back said that was fine she went right up to the microphone and started singing. The pianist told her to wait so she could play for her. After the first line she was having some trouble so she turned to me and said, “Mom, I don’t know it, will you help me?” I told her that she could do it. She said, “OK”, started over and sang the entire song. All the teachers were smiling and thought she was so cute…I was a little embarrassed though.

On August 21st Elese TOLD me that we would be having a tea party when I finished exercising. Then she said, “And mom, it’s going to be a REALLY long tea party so you better go potty before we start.”

She is also boy crazy. Steven let her watch Thor with him one Saturday and every time he would come on the screen she would snuggle up to Steven, smile big and act really shy. That night before bed she asked me if I thought he was handsome. Of course I said yes. Then she said, "Mommy, do you wish you had married him instead of daddy?"

Samuel
Sam was really starting to build his very own personality but mostly he just played with toys, slept, ate, slept and smiled. Isn't he just the cutest kid ever? It's no wonder that we all love him so much. He also smells really good, like a baby.
Mediocre Mom
Throughout the summer I tried to do themes for Mediocre mom. Our favorite thing that we did this month was studying dinosaurs. Max wants to be a Paleontologist, or "what daddy does" when he grows up so he loved reading his dinosaur book and visiting the dinosaur museum. I'm not sure where Elese learned this but she would strike a pose every time I took a picture. We also learned about nutrition by having a healthy after school snack and making muffins for breakfast.
