2011 Heumann Halloween Party *Oct. 29th 2011

Laurie and Wade dressed up as Laurie and Wade for Halloween.  It was very clever and entertaining.  The only con was that Wade kept forgetting that he was wearing a skirt and would sit like a man.
Our Camera died so all our photos have been taken with my phone-not the best quality but you get the idea.  That is also why there aren't a lot of photos of the Halloween party.  The Heumann Halloween Party is the same every year with the exception of the winners of the games and the Spook Ally.  The biggest difference this year was the number of Grand kids there.  The older kids are now super cool and go on dates instead of hanging out with us.

The most memorable part of this party was by far the Spook Ally.  Steven went all out this year and has made the claim that this will be the last year he is doing it.  He is leaving it up to the teenage grand kids to get it done from now on.  Let's see if I can remember everything.

Steven told Heidi (15) that she was going to help with the spook Ally.  While he "set up" everyone (even Heidi) was sent into the basement where Steven had found the Incredibles "Playing on Fox 13".  Jacob (9) wanted nothing to do with the spook ally but because we didn't want anyone to see any of the "set up" happenings he was also sent down into the basement to watch the movie that was "playing on TV".  During the movie a news crawl showed up at the bottom of the screen.  Grandma decided to read it out loud.  It said something to this effect, "There has been an outbreak of what people are calling the Rage Virus.  There have been cases in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Seatle.  It is believed that the virus is transmitted when an infected person scratches or bites you.  Please stay indoors.  More information will come when it is available."  After about the 1st sentence Jacob was in Grandma's arms crying.  Kaitie (14) asked Heidi, "Is this the Spook Ally?"  Heidi's response was, "I don't know.  Wait, it can't be because I'm helping with it and I didn't know anything about this."  At that point Heidi and Kaitie snuggled a little closer while Jacob completely lost it.  I took him upstairs to his dad and on the way I told him, "It's Ok, it's just the Spook Ally."  Upstairs, his dad, Grandpa and I all told Jacob it was OK and part of the Spook Ally.  Then the movie continued for a few more minutes. Suddenly the news crawl returned with a few slight differences.  This time it added a few cites to the affected areas, Sandy Utah was one of them. Now everyone was pretty freaked out.  I even knew what was going on but the energy everyone was putting off was kind of freaking me out too.  Someone went upstairs to see if Grandpa and George (Jacobs Dad) had had the same interruption on their TV and of course they said they had.  George brought Jacob down so George could play into the madness and get people a little more freaked out while Jacob announced, "It's OK guys, it's just the Spook Ally.  Right?  It's just the Spook Ally.  Right?"  All the other kids were certain it was not and Jacob was still so freaked out that despite us telling him numerous times that it WAS the spook Ally still believed that it was real.  After all they were watching the movie on TV not a DVD.  There was even a little Fox13 symbol in the bottom corner. (None of them thought, "Oh, Uncle Steven works in television, he could have made a fake DVD).  It HAD to be real!!!  Then the worst possible thing happened!  A LIVE new's report interrupted our movie.  There was an anchor and even live footage of the attacks!!!  This is when Jordan (age 9) literally leaped through the air from where he was sitting on the floor into Grandma's arms and began to sob and say, "Grandma, I love you!"  As those of us who knew what was going on had been instructed we called to Steven and his brother Tim to come see what was going on.  Steven watched for a minute and then told Tim to go lock the doors.  A moment later Steven shouted, "Everyone Stay downstairs!"  At this point Ben (11) went to peak out the window and we all screamed at him, "Stay way from the Window!"  Just then Steven ran down and yelled, "EVERYONE UPSTAIRS!!!"  Then the window shattered!  (Ok, it was a mason jar inside a pillow case.  The window was open, that's why we yelled at Ben).  Then Zombie #1 (Our Friend Derek) came crawling through the window as we all tried to run upstairs.  Grandmas house is a split level.  Once we got to the door someone was pounding on it and making strange noises (Zombie #2 Tim).  This made everyone bottle neck and Zombie #1 was getting closer!!!!  We were all going to die!!!  Then people started moving upstairs.  There was another Zombie Pounding on the sliding door.  It was madness.  Steven ran outside to fight off the Zombie #3 (Derek's brother Dallin).  Max Screamed "No Daddy!  No!!!" and began to cry.  That made Elese cry too.  Up until then she was clueless.  Sam started crying too but I think it had more to do with the noise and chaos.  Somehow Zombie #3 got inside and chased Jack (5) down the hall.  At the end of the hall Jack, sure he could never survive this, collapsed to the floor like a rag doll giving in to his inevitable defeat.  At that point Zombie #3 came out with his hands in the air and said, "I'm done.  Not sure where it can escalate from here."  Steven then informed everyone that this was indeed the spook ally.  So, you are either thinking we are the meanest parents/aunts/uncles ever or you are thinking, "That's AWESOME!"  Whatever you are thinking I hope you at least enjoyed hearing about it.
