The 4th of July *July 4th 2012*

Max's Karate studio was in the Sandy city parade so we went to watch.  Samuel loved waving his flag.  Steven had to leave mid parade (it was VERY long) to go do flags with the scouts.

When he came back he had bad news....Fortunately he had to stop at home before meeting up with the scouts and what he found was our house filled with smoke!  We had some trouble with our furnace freezing up a week or two before leaving for Costa Rica.  A neighbor told us to use a blow dryer to fix the problem so that's what we did.  It was resolved and we figured everything was going to be ok.  It turns out that the fan in the furnace caught on fire.  While we were not happy to have our first major home repair we tried to stay positive and be thankful that Steven had stopped home before the smoke damaged the house or it caught fire.  We were also very thankful that this happened after we returned from our trip rather than while my mom and Steven's mom were baby sitting.  It wasn't very fun that this happened during the hottest weeks of the year!  So Steven returned and got to see Max in the parade but just long enough to tell him to get out of the truck so we could go home and take care of things.
(That's Max's head poking out behind Steven)
Once we got home we opened all the windows and couldn't stand the smell so we went out to dinner where everyone was pretty crabby and tired.  To avoid going inside the kids and I watched the fireworks going on in our street for a bit.  After pricing some stuff out we discovered that our outside AC unit was going to die anytime soon (we got another opinion).  As long as we are forking out money we don't have we may as well get everything all fixed up nicely.  So 6k later and a week or two of uncomfortable living we had air conditioning again.
