You can expect a lot of posts today. Adjusting to baby #4 has but its tole on me. I feel like I can't do any one thing or care for any one child really great because there is just so much to do and so many to take care of. The last week has been pretty rough. I'm thankful for my friend Becky that came right out and said "Let's be real-having 4 kids is hard. It doesn't do anyone any good to pretend otherwise". Also- I went to yoga last weekend and the instructor shared a poem called "Sweet Darkness"- It's all about embracing the dark times because without them we can't enjoy the sweet times. So I'm doing my best to embrace the chaos and not let it bother me. Anyway Steven asked me what a day off would look like to me and I said no laundry to deal with-no dishes-don't having to remind everyone about their responsibilities-no grocery shopping...I think I'll do the grocery shopping though because it would be nice to get out of the house. So here I sit with a day off and what I want to do is blog. I want to blog so I can focus on the happy times and also have things in order so I can make the kids their photo books for Christmas and not have to skip it again this year. Without further ado Daniel's Summit Shoot...
After my last experience on a shoot I was reluctant to go but I did come more mentally prepared. This was the New Years shoot so we filmed wraps inside the lodge and just talked about memories of the year. It was difficult keeping the kids happy. They kept wanting to go outside but it was very cold and there really wasn't any place for them to play except the parking lot. There was a lot of me saying "no" or "after we are done filming" but it was nice to be back at Daniels Summit. Steven and I went there for our anniversary once (6th maybe?). We also went there for my birthday one year as a family and went snowmobiling. It was fun to be back although it was just for a few hours.
After we filmed in the lodge the did some stuff outside and started up a bit of a snowball fight which was not only enjoyed by all but also made for some good TV. Max enjoyed throwing snow balls at Chad while Elese wanted to stay inside and Sam wasn't sure what to think.
Then we went over to film in the game room and the restaurant. The women that we were working with was very sweet and ended up offering to buy us all lunch and even gave the kids some quarters to use in the game room. While we were waiting for our food the kids loved playing with the rocks. Once again this super sweet lady-who heard me tell the kids that we couldn't get any rocks to take home-came and gave them each a bag and told them they could fill it with rocks to take home. They were all really thrilled.
I think maybe I worry too much about being polite though...my poor kids. Colton just asked for everything and got it. I felt that lunch was enough and that it was rude to push for dessert...my poor kids. Anyway-like always it was a fun yet stressful shoot. I just hope the fun outweighs the stress when the kids look back on this day.
About Me
- Becky
- I started out as a daughter and sister. Then things progressed and suddenly I was also a young child and a friend. As I grew I became a teen who was boy crazy and also enjoyed singing and performing in musicals. For a brief time I was a college student and then a newlywed. I enjoyed working in the "real world" as a claims adjuster's assistant. Then out of nowhere I was suddenly grown up and taking on the most challenging role of my life, Mother of 4. Now the time has come for the role of daughter to join the main players at center stage with the additional of the title, "caregiver".
