I was beginning to get concerned about Sam's speech. He wasn't talking much and was still going up and
down the stairs the baby way. I wasn't overly concerned but I felt like if we were going to look into it that now was the time because we had met our insurance deductible for the year. Also I thought it would be best to do it sooner rather than later. It turned out to be a free service for anyone in the school district so that was nice. Sam's personality is very much the strong silent type so I knew that most of his delay's were just part of his personality.
Miss Lara came over and played some games with Sam.
These were the results of his evaluation.
Speech evaluation. Average is between 16 and 84.
Gross motor 9 because he can't walk up and down stairs.
Fine motor 75
Cognitive 27
Receptive language 84
Expressive language 1
Social/emotional 16
Adaptive 27
Because of his expressive language an motor skills he qualified for a preschool for 2 1/2-3 year olds as well as speech therapy 2 times a month. This is a fantstic program. The preschool was once a week and Lara came to our home 2 times a month all for $20 a month.
About Me
- Becky
- I started out as a daughter and sister. Then things progressed and suddenly I was also a young child and a friend. As I grew I became a teen who was boy crazy and also enjoyed singing and performing in musicals. For a brief time I was a college student and then a newlywed. I enjoyed working in the "real world" as a claims adjuster's assistant. Then out of nowhere I was suddenly grown up and taking on the most challenging role of my life, Mother of 4. Now the time has come for the role of daughter to join the main players at center stage with the additional of the title, "caregiver".
