First day of First Grade *Aug. 24th, 2010*

Here's a picture of my big first grader. He took "home lunch" the first day of school and now we read the lunch menu together and he chooses if he wants home lunch or school lunch. Kid's used to tease him about his lunch box because it looks like a little back pack but it turns out that our neighbor loved it so much that he just had to have one just like it. Max's teacher is Mrs. Yen. One of the first days of school (it may have been the first day) Max looked around and realized that everyone in his class was gone. He went wondering around the school until he found Mrs. Yen who told him that the other children had gone out for recess. Max is a great student and brings home a Shark Pride note (for good behavior) nearly everyday. He loves being recognized for good behavior and tells me that he walks very quietly through the halls just so he can get a Shark Pride. Max is reading like a mad man. His class has 3 different spelling tests ranked by difficulty. Recently Max moved up to the hard one. For the first couple days he would complain about how hard it was but I told him to keep trying and he did. So far there has only been one test he didn't get 100% on and he only missed one word on it. It is apparent to me that he takes after his daddy when it comes to spelling.

Because I'm working nights Steven takes Max to school in the morning on his way to work and I pick him up. I'm so glad that I have a husband who is willing to wake up and get Max ready and off to school. He even makes Max's lunch for him.
