This year for the Christmas shoot we spent the night up at East Canyon in a Yurt. They kids got to celebrate a mock Christmas for the camera. In the evening we had dinner in the Booth's Yurt and even baked cookies to leave out for Santa. Elese Loved following around the Booth girls and visiting with Maggie. When we got back to our Yurt Steven told the kids the story of a Christmas Carol. There were three Yurts by us full of a bunch of boy scouts and BOY were they LOUD! It was tough to sleep. Plus we would hear coyotes howling at the moon...that was pretty cool though.
Elese woke up pretty early to use the bathroom and we had to go trudging through the snow. After that she wouldn't go back to sleep. At one point she said, "Mom, Max's shadow looks like a dinosaur!" Me: "Maybe he turned into a dinosaur while we were sleeping!" Elese: "No, I think he just said 'please let me shadow look like a dinosaur." Just moments later I heard Elese whisper "Please oh, please let my shadow look like a princess!" then she sat up really fast to look at her shadow and see if her wish had come true. After everyone was awake we returned to the Booth Yurt where the kids found their mock Santa gifts (they knew Santa hadn't really come and that it was pretend for the camera). Max got a Mega Block set that Andrew (steven's co-worker) had gotten as a white elephant gift and wanted to give it to Max. Elese got a new Sleeping beauty doll because the one she already had lost her head.
