Sacramento 48 Hour Film Project *December 27th 2011-January 3rd

Steven's brother David works at ITT Tech in Sacramento and was putting on a 48 hour film project for the students.  He asked Steven to go out there and help and I wasn't willing to not see him on New Years Eve so we tagged along.

December 28th
Lots of driving.  Honestly, I don't remember a lot about this.  I have either blocked it out of my memory because it was so bad or I just waited way to long to blog about it.  I'm pretty sure it is the latter.  Steven's nephew Tyler had been very kind to give up his bed for us and sleep on the couch. Sam didn't like sleeping in a strange place and did lots of crying.  It wasn't a great nights sleep.

December 29th
Steven and I picked up some McDonalds for everyone for breakfast and then Steven, David and Tyler spent the better part of the next 48 hours at the school working on their film. We didn't see Steven until about 3am and then they only slept a few hours and left again at 6am...David stayed at the school all night.

Stephanie was getting over a cold so the kids and I just kind of did our own thing during this trip while.  The kids and I headed out to the Jelly Belly Factory and boy was the line for the tour LONG!!!  It was out the door and at least an hour wait.  I thought Max would have been way more into how Jelly Belly's are made but mostly he just wanted to be done so we could go eat some Jelly Belly's.  We bought some Jelly Belly soda and Belly Flops. Then we made the hour drive back to David and Stephanie's house.  After a bit the kids and I went grocery shopping and stopped at Chipotle to get us some dinner.  Put the kids to bed and watched a movie (I think).  :)

December 30th
I threw some chicken in a crock pot for BBQ chicken Sandwiches for dinner, we ate some cereal and then the kids and I headed off to visit the boys at the school.  At this point they were done filming and working on editing and special effects.  After bringing Steven some lunch the kids and I headed off to the nearby Children's museum.
They loved the little vents that sucked in little fluffy balls.
Samuel played in a little splash pool and Elese joined in the fun.
The big kids painted on glass and Elese made a new friend by sharing.
Sam played in the "Toddler Only" area.
Elese enjoyed playing in the kitchen area while Max loved playing the the plastic gears.
We picked up a little snack at Carl's Jr. and then headed back to the Heumann's.  After Sam's nap we decided to go to a near by park called, "Ahlstrom Park" which is Max's best friends last name.
Then it was back to the house for dinner and bed time...which was quit early considering how little sleep the boys had gotten.
Saturday December 31st New Years Eve
We had a pretty lazy morning.  Tyler wanted Steven to play some video games with him so I took Max and Elese to lunch at Chili's while Steven kept an eye on sleeping Sam.  Once I got back we had to make a decision for our New Years Eve celebration.  We decided to go to dinner and leave Tyler and the kids home sleeping so we could just hang out as adults.  When we got back we tried to watch a movie but we couldn't make it through.  With Sam crying a lot every night and Steven not really sleeping much we went to bed around 9pm on New Years Eve.  Yep, that's how we roll.
 Sunday January 1st 2012
We woke up and I made crepes for breakfast.  Stephanie helped make some because they were getting eaten faster than I could make them.  Then we went to church.  After church we relaxed and finished our Movie from the night before.  Then Stephanie fixed us a nice dinner.  After dinner we put the kids to bed and watched another movie.
Monday January 2nd, 2012
We left early in the morning because Steven had a shoot in Reno, NV.  There were several hours of filming and keeping the kids entertained in a vacant hotel room and on the playground.  On the playground the kids made rock nativity sets.  There was a river at the resort and we walked along side it and saw a snake swimming in the water.  The  kids thought that was great.  We jumped in a couple shots at the end of the shoot and Max helped Steven by carrying his tri-pod.  Before leaving we ate dinner at the restaurant at the resort where we got to try rattle snake as an appetizer.  Then we made the long drive home.

All in all I had fun with the kids but Steven was so busy it wasn't really worth the money and time we spent.  It was good to see his family but the kids and I didn't see much of them.  David wants Steven to come back next year...if he does I don't think we will be tagging along.  It was a lot of work for me.
