Friday evening we ate dinner at home and then got in the van and headed to Starvation reservoir. Chad and Ria drove our RV for us because it isn't safe for babies and car seats. Once we arrived we met Chad and Ria at the RV park - got set up for the night and sat at our picnic table eating homemade granola bars. Around 10pm we got settled into bed. Steven and Sam slept in the big bed while Liv and I took the table bed and the big kids shared the couch bed. It wasn't the most comfortable nights sleep but being away from home never is. In the morning Steven took the kids exploring at the lake. It was really close to our RV. Sam and the other kids loved it with the exception of a few tears from Sam. Sam had fun doing what most 2 year olds would enjoy doing - throwing rocks. When I finished feeding Olivia she and I joined them. I remember thinking that wearing a beach dress wasn't really the most functional thing for a nursing mother.
After our little adventure we cleaned up the beds and ate cereal on the picnic table. I realize that having an RV gives you the added benefit of a full kitchen but I didn't want to deal with the mess. After this we went to the beach to film where Darren taught the kids how to fish for crawdads.
I was carrying around a little baby so I decided to avoid climbing on slick rocks with a baby in hand so I sat back and watched from a distance. Fortunately Bacon Bill took this cute picture for me. Then Steven went on the boat to film some more so the kids and I got their life jackets and went to the beach to swim...but it was very cold and windy. It was quite a hassle carrying a baby and a beach chair and life jackets to the beach so I remember being very crabby that we had to head right back to the RV. Then on the way back Sam also insisted on being carried so Max carried the chair while I carried Liv in her car seat and Sam in my other arm. I fed Liv and then we tried to play Are you Kidding Me but Sam threw the pieces everywhere. So I got Olivia to sleep and put her down in this really nice co-sleeper that Nicole let me borrow.
Some how I managed to get Sam to sleep as well. Then the big kids and I sat at the picnic table while the kids slept. After that we went to the crawdad cook off. Bacon Bill made other yummy food for us as well. All the kids seemed to really like the crawdads. Someone had arranged to have a band there. It was lots of fun to just eat and enjoy the music. There was also a bit of Sam chasing mixed in with all that.
About Me
- Becky
- I started out as a daughter and sister. Then things progressed and suddenly I was also a young child and a friend. As I grew I became a teen who was boy crazy and also enjoyed singing and performing in musicals. For a brief time I was a college student and then a newlywed. I enjoyed working in the "real world" as a claims adjuster's assistant. Then out of nowhere I was suddenly grown up and taking on the most challenging role of my life, Mother of 4. Now the time has come for the role of daughter to join the main players at center stage with the additional of the title, "caregiver".
